Learn-to-Race p/b MEC

Learn to ride (and race!) your road bike every Mondays this spring and summer from April to August (excluding holidays).

With almost 20 years of teaching riders how to race their bicycles, Midweek Learn- to-Race p/b MEC returns to Tahoe Blvd and Buckhorn Cres. Coaches and experienced instructors will be on hand to conduct learn to race clinics, encouraging fun, confidence and skills training. Clinics cover (but are not limited to): cornering, sprinting, pack handling skills, echelons, race tactics, bumping wheels, energy conservation, and more. Riders (including youth) are split into smaller groups of similar ability to keep the sessions fun and safe. Our circuit to closed to all traffic except LTR attendees.

Even if you're not road racing, but just want to improve your bike handling skills for triathlons, Grand Fondos, or charity rides, LTR is for you.

Helmets mandatory. Ages 9 and up. All participants must have a valid UCI Road License or Ontario Cycling Association Citizen Permit. Per OCA/Cycling Canada rules, disc brakes are allowed. No tri-bars or fixed gears. Please refer to map for parking. Parking at TD or RIM lots around the course not allowed.

Each session is a standalone lesson. Riders do benefit from attending as many sessions as possible in order but previous lessons not mandatory. New/beginner riders recommended to attend Learn to Ride 1-4. Returning riders may start with Learn to Race 1. Novice racers should complete Learn to Race 6 before racing MWCrit Tuesdays. Learn to Ride 4 and Learn to Race 5 CONTACT lessons recommended for anyone new to pack riding.

Midweek Criterium Race Series

LATE RACE - Starts April 10, 2018

For Elite 1/2 Men & Women, Master 1 Men, and returning racers with a result in 2017 Midweek Late Race. All others must upgrade into Late Race through results at the Early Race.

EARLY RACE - Starts April 24, 2018

For Elite 3, Master 2, U19 (Junior), and returning riders with a result in the 2017 Midweek Early Race. Younger riders who have been certified at Midweek Learn-to- Race or another recognised youth programme may be approved at the discretion of Midweek. New M3, E4 and U17 (Cadet) racers should attend Midweek's Learn-to- Race before lining up for the Early Race. Experienced marshals wearing pinnies will be in peloton to keep the race safe. Failure to heed marshals may result in DQ.

WOMEN'S RACE - Starts May 15, 2018

Recommended for Elite 3, Masters, and U19 (Junior) women, plus U17 (Cadet) women who have previously raced an OCA Youth Cup. Younger riders who have been certified at Midweek Learn-to- Race or another recognised youth programme may be approved at the discretion of Midweek. (Women are welcome to race either the Early or Late Race instead of the Women's Race.)

All participants must have a valid UCI Road License or OCA Citizen Permit. Per OCA/Cycling Canada rules, disc brakes are allowed. Note: Going over the yellow line, parking at TD or RIM lots around course, relieving yourself in public, warming up in opposite lane of traffic WILL result in DQs.

MIDWEEK CYCLOCROSS

Series over for 2017; See you in 2018

Join us under at the ski hill at Centennial Park Tuesday evenings this fall. Some of the best CX instructors in Ontario will be on hand to help improve your skills. Every week a new course with new challenges!

Registration opens at 6 pm. Lessons start at 7 pm and then we proceed to races.

While we recommend a CX bike with clipless pedals, you have options: rim brakes, disc brakes, mountain bikes, hybrids and fat bikes, single speed but not fixed gear.

Helmets are mandatory and a front (white) light is recommended. Kids should have a rear (red) blinking light.

Riders who have NOT attended Learn-to-Race or the Midweek Crit in 2017 must preregister to get your timing chip. (2017 LTR or Crit attendees must bring their existing chips. Replacement chips $5.)

Participants must have a valid OCA Citizen Permit or UCI Road License. Visit the Ontario Cycling Association for more information. License/Permit must be purchased at least 48hrs in advance. Ages 9 and up.

Midweek Cycling Club Group Rides

All group ride attendees must bring a valid UCI/CP license and wear a helmet while on the bike. Always adhere to the Highway Traffic Act and listen to your ride leader.

MIDWEEK YOUTH RACING

Midweek Cycling is Ontario's fastest growing youth cycling club, focusing on road, cyclocross, and track.

Midweek supports Long Term Athlete Development and Active for Life, and believes success is measured by the number of youth athletes still riding their bikes and passionate about sport 10, 15, 50 years in the future.

Youths aged 9 and up can join us at Monday Learn-to-Race or Tuesday Cyclocross to learn more about Midweek.

***NEW*** NEXTWEEK YOUTH GRASSTRACK

Midweek Cycling Club's "NEXTWEEK Youth Grasstrack Programme" starts Wednesday August 2nd!

For all riders aged 4 - 12 that can ride their bike unassisted in a straight line, NEXTWEEK offers an introduction to the fundamental skills of cycling through a blend of skill building exercises and games.

Held on the grass of beautiful Erindale Park, NEXTWEEK is open to any aspiring cyclist with a bicycle, in any shape or size, that is in working condition and is looking to have some fun!

Where: Erindale Park Mississauga! North of Dundas St., east of Mississauga Rd.

When: Wednesday, August 2 - September 6 2017 from 6:30 to 7:30pm - weather cancellations will be made by 4pm and announced on Midweek social media.

Who: Riders aged 4 - 12.

Cost: $40 +hst for Ontario Cycling Association Citizen Permit. If riders attend a minimum of 4/6 sessions, they will be reimbursed $40*

Why: It's fun!!!!
